I met a local rapper and her aspiring pop star sister through a mutual friend. I had watched another video from artist 9m88 produced by Sid and Geri and felt inspired to get better at video editing and learn After Effects. I thought a full green screen video would be fun so I proposed the idea to Melo.

A few important lessons I learned from this experience:

  1. The talent is not the director. It was like letting your toddler pick what they eat for dinner every night, of course they would try and get away with the most egregious bs possible and eat chicken nuggies and pizza 7 nights a week if you let them.
  2. Green screen production always requires 3x more lighting than you think.
  3. Working between friends requires clearly delineated roles/responsibilities, deliverables, and deadlines or else it devolves into like trying to plan a vacation or dinner party.
